Along the way, we’ll benefit from the expertise of a Battlefields Tour Manager, who will be able to impart knowledge about each of the areas we visit, so we can gain a better understanding of the main events that took place in this area.

Our first excursion on this Grand Tourer Battlefields tour will be to the Somme battlefields in and around the Arras and Peronne areas, where we’ll visit many famous memorials and cemeteries. At each, our tour manager will be able to tell us more about the historical attractions and will tell us stories about the memorials we visit.

The next excursion we take will be to the Flanders battlefields, which are arguably some of the most well-known due to John McCrae’s moving poem ‘In Flanders Field’. We’ll visit the museum of the same name, and will also visit the in Flanders Field Museum, Exeter Farm and Langemark Cemetery, along with other cemeteries on the day. In the evening, we’ll get the see the Last Post, which is held at Menin Gate every night.

On our final full day, we’ll spend time exploring the Somme Battlefields including visits to the Thiepval Memorial, Beaumont Hamel and the Historical Museum, as well as visiting Pozieres.
