Staying in the heart of coastal Gdansk, you’ll have chance to explore the city’s historic centre, green parks and popular seafront. Gdansk boasts wonderful architecture, including medieval city gates, as well as the medieval crane which serves as a reminder of its maritime connections.

We’ll visit the nearby town of Sopot, where you can see the longest wooden pier in Europe, taking a cruise to the lovely town of Hel. Out on the peninsula, Hel is surrounded on three sides by waters of the Baltic Sea.

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site we will visit is the impressive Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork, the largest brick building in Europe, located on the River Nogat.

Leaving Gdansk, we stay in capital Berlin overnight, where you may venture out to see the landmarks in the evening, before our final stay in Belgium and onward journey home.

    Lubeck
    En Route: Lubeck
Known for its gothic architecture and charming atmosphere, this city is the largest German port on the Baltic Sea and has an extensive medieval old town, now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city centre still has its medieval skyline mainly composed of seven gothic-style church towers and is surrounded by parts of the old city walls with two of originally four city gates left intact. Most notable is the Holsten Gate which was formerly the motif on the German banknote of 50 Marks, prior to German reunification in 1990.

    Sopot
Full Day: Hel Peninsula and Sopot

Today we’ll enjoy a day’s excursion to the pretty resorts of Hel and Sopot, both on the Polish Baltic Coast.

In order to experience some of the beautiful scenery along the coast, we'll take a cruise across Puck Bay to the pretty Hel Peninsula. In Hel, we’ll have time at leisure so may choose to see the town’s lighthouse, the Fisheries Museum, or the interesting exhibits in the Museum of Coastal Defence. This charming seaside town has a very interesting history, which you’ll be able to delve into while there.

Contuniuing by ferry, we’ll sail to Sopot, where we’ll also enjoy free time to tour the various attractions in the town at leisure. There are many things to see and do in Sopot, including visiting the pier, Sopot Lighthouse, the Krzywy Domek (literally ‘crooked little house’), and wandering through the quaint city centre.

    Full Day: Malbork Castle

Also known as the Castle of the Teutonic Order, Malbork Castle is actually the largest castle in the world, as well as being the biggest building made from brick in Europe.

The medieval fortress was built in 1406 and is in good condition today, despite over half of the castle being destroyed during World War II air raids. It’s since been beautifully restored, and houses a great museum which we’ll be able to spend time exploring.
