Grand Tourer Highlights

Las Alpujarras
Discover the delightful mountain villages of the Alpujarras, nestled within the southern flanks of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We drive along the Costa Tropical, then head inland to explore the sheltered valleys and spectacular gorges which run down towards the Mediterranean. We are introduced to the fine art of ham curing, with the opportunity to sample this delicacy, before enjoying tapas in a cosy bodega.

Granada and The Alhambra
The wonderful city of Granada was the last stronghold of the Moors before their expulsion from Spain in 1492. Discover sights such as Spain's first renaissance cathedral, the Capilla Real and the old Moorish silk market. We then head to the spectacular Alhambra Palace, crowning glory of the ancient Moorish empire, for a guided tour and time to enjoy the beautiful Generalife gardens, displaying lush greenery and inviting fountains.

The Caves of Nerja and Frigiliana
Dating back over 200,000 years, these underground caverns house wonderful chambers of stalactites and stalagmites. On to Frigiliana, a typical Andalucian village, boasting quaint narrow streets, white-washed houses and tiny shops selling local handicrafts. We visit a friendly, family run bodega to sample local delicacies, such as fig bread, sugar-cane honey and dessert wine.

Local delicacies in La Axarquia
Areal highlight of the trip, today we get a true insight into the Spanish lifestyle and its culinary delights. We have the pleasure of being invited into the home of a local housewife, who prepares us a typical Andalucian meal with all the trimmings. We discover the rolling hills of Axarquia, lined with neat rows of olive groves, and visit a local mill to witness olive oil production first hand.

Salobreña
In the heart of the Costa Tropical, this charming Andalucian village is still relatively unspoilt by mass tourism. Stroll through the winding streets of white-washed houses to the Moorish fortress, dating back to the 12th century and boasting spectacular views of both the Mediterranean sea and the Sierra Nevada mountains. For the more adventurous, there is an enjoyable walk along the coast.
