Isle of Elba

Elba is renowned for its clear, blue sea and beautiful beaches. The biggest island of the Tuscan Archipelago and part of the National Park, the largest marine park in Europe. The island of Elba is famous around the world for harbouring French Emperor Napoleon in 1814 during his exile. On Elba you’ll find remnants of its glorious past from the archaeological findings in its museums to the impressive fortresses and military constructions. A truly unique destination in Tuscany.

brilliant

This was a fantastic holiday from start to finish. The hotel was excellent. very polite staff. Good food. The drivers were brilliant; very helpful, polite, very knowledgeable. On way home an accident occurred ahead of us and they tried to save the mans life using CPR. This company is fantastic.

Overall a good holiday

Disappointing start due to ferry was going to be 5 hours late but was 3 hours eventually. Drivers excellent, safe journey there and back. Trip to Elba was very disappointig, all shut no info given on this by Shearings. My reason for going on this holiday was to go to Elba. Good customer service by Staff at Stop 24, had to travel there because Shearings did not come to South Wales. Too long a journey travelling overnight, should think of an overnight stay somewhere.

Refreshing new areas

Elba was really picturesque with Napoleons' house available to visit. The best day was a visit to the Cinque Terra.Five villages hanging from the cliff sides. We were scheduled to visit them by railway, but the trains were on strike, so we had the added bonus of seeing them from the sea ,as we went by ferry.Pietra Santa where we were based was vey quiet as we went in October but it was very clean with a wonderful large sandy beach.

Inclusive excursions were to places well worth visiting.

This is a great holiday, The hotel was small friendly and comfortable. The food was very good and catered for Coeliac diets with no trouble. The excursions to Lucca/Pisa/Elba and Portofina were beautiful and places well worth visiting.

The beach is nearby

The hotel and location was good but when we went to Elba everything was closed! We spent all day there doing nothing. Pisa is a very enjoyable excursion but again when we went to Lucca everything was closed. There were too many full day excursions so it was a bit tiring. Florence is very pretty and plenty of walking on cobbled paths, we could have left a bit earlier. We didn't go on one excursion just to have a relaxing day. Very good drivers. I am not sure I would go back though. I would recommend it though, as I love Italy.

Five-Star, despite very poor food and service at the hotel.

How I would love to give an unreserved thumbs-up to this holiday. The excursions were super, especially the one to Elba - which was my main reason for booking. The alternative to the Cinque Terre, cancelled because of a dreadful landslide, was to Montecatini and no disappointment. The drivers were so friendly and accommodating and the hotel was clean and comfortable. Because it was Autumn, the colours were breathtaking. I'm still giving this five stars, optimistically hoping the rude, unfriendly, unhelpful staff and the AWFUL meals were a one-off and that they will radically improve. I'm not put off and would certainly recommend.

This holiday has a good choice of excursions and hotel in good position only a few minutes walk to the beach.

This was an excellent holiday, The excursions were really good, we particularly enjoyed the trip to the Isle of Elba. The base resort was very good with a nice beach. The hotel was really good as were the staff. Also the Shearings driver was excellent with nothing too much trouble. Would certainly recommend this holiday. One thing to remember is if you use the train or buses, you must get your ticket validated with that days date, as some of our party were fined on the train for not doing this.
