Our relaxing and varied tour will take you around some of Italy’s most beautiful sights, combining the glamour of Rome with the ancient history of Pompeii, as well as taking in the scenic delights of the Amalfi Coast and stylish Sorrento.

Rome

We’ll fly to the beautiful Italian capital city of Rome, where we’ll stay for two nights.The Eternal City of Rome is one of the most important tourist destinations of the world, due to the vast number of archaeological and artistic treasures, as well as for the charm of its unique traditions.

 

Here we’ll enjoy an insightful guided city tour highlighting some of the top sights, including the awesome Colosseum and St Peter’s Basilia in Vatican City. Enjoy time at leisure to explore further, as Rome has so many wonderful places to see, including the superb Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.

Sorrento

Moving on to the coast, we will stay in the stylish resort of Sorrento for four nights, an enchanting town, located in a steep position on the Gulf of Naples, offering breathtaking panoramic views. During our stay we’ll have time to relax and enjoy our resort, which also has many historical attractions and religious architecture including the cathedral, the Church of Sant’Antonio and the Cloister of San Francesco.

 

Sit back as we take you on a stunning drive along the wonderful Amalfi Coast and be amazed as we visit the unique archaeological site of Pompeii. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ancient city of Pompeii was buried under ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD79, and was lost for nearly 1,700 years before its rediscovery in 1748.

 

After a wonderful break, we head back to Rome for our final overnight stay, before our return flight home.

Holiday Details

Day 1: UK to Rome
Fly to Rome and transfer to the 3-star Hotel Torre Rossa Park (or similar) on the city’s outskirts for dinner and a chance to meet fellow travellers.
Day 2: Rome
A full day to explore ‘The Eternal City’, with an included guided tour by coach as an introduction. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the sights of this wonderful city, including the Vatican, the huge Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain.
Day 3: Rome to Sorrento
A morning visit to the Castelli Romani, or ‘Castles of Rome’, followed by a trip to the village of Castel Gandolfo, home of the Pope’s summer residence. We then head to Sorrento with its pretty marina, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic shopping for four nights at the 3-star Hotel Tirennia (or similar).
Day 4: Pompeii and Vesuvius
The eruption of Vesuvius in AD79 engulfed Pompeii in a cloud of ash and lava. A guided tour takes you to the mosaics, shops, villas, theatres and streets of this city, before a visit to the mighty volcano itself that broods mightily over the Bay of Naples. NB - Entrance fees for Pompeii and Vesuvius are not included, however, discounts may apply.
Day 5: Sorrento
A free day to relax in stylish Sorrento or to join an optional excursion to the Emerald Isle of Capri. Entertainment is provided this evening at a traditional Neapolitan show in the heart of Sorrento.
Day 6: The Amalfi Drive
A once in a lifetime experience driving along the magnificent Amalfi coastline. Dramatic and spectacular scenery awaits! We enjoy a visit to the town of Amalfi where an optional boat trip (weather permitting) gives the opportunity to enjoy the views of the coast.
Day 7: Sorrento to Rome
A leisurely drive back to Rome, pausing at historic Montecassino where we pay tribute to those who fell during the historical battle. We reach our 3-star Hotel Torre Rossa Park (or similar) for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Rome to UK
Transfer from Hotel Torre Rossa Park to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
