Join us for a wonderful holiday, based in the pretty village of Baveno on the tranquil shores of Lake Maggiore, looking out towards the lovely Borromean Islands. This is a relaxing break, enjoying the area's superb scenery.

Must See: Borromean Islands

Situated on the western side of Lake Maggiore are the Borromean Islands, which take their names from the aristocratic Borromean family, who took ownership of the land in the 16th and 17th centuries.

The islands of Bella and Madre were transformed into grand, luxurious residences, while the third island was left to continue its traditional way of life, a must-see destination for every visitor to Lake Maggiore.

Full Day: Zermatt & the Matterhorn: On the Italian border of Switzerland lies Zermatt, the village at the foot of the Matterhorn, the most photographed mountain in the world. We enjoy time at leisure in this picturesque alpine village.

Full Day: Lake Orta: Today we visit pretty Lake Orta, which is one of Italy’s smallest lakes and has a pretty ancient village, where narrow cobbled streets sit between quaint houses and elaborate palaces.

Holiday Details

Day 1: UK to Reims
Dover to Calais, then on to Reims for our overnight hotel stay.

Day 2: Reims to Baveno
We drive into Italy past some beautiful countryside to reach Baveno in time for dinner. (B,D)

Days 3-8: Baveno
A chance to relax in your picturesque resort and enjoy some of the surrounding area's best sights on our included excursions. (B,D)

Day 9: Baveno to Reims
We head back north into France for our overnight hotel. (B,D)

Day 10: Reims to UK
Calais, Dover, then home. (B)
