2nd Visit to same Hotel

We got home 2 days ago, and it was our 2nd visit. Positives of the hols. Great location of the hotel, Brilliant re-vamped lido. great trips, the Train into Switzerland a Must. Sally our Hotel rep. Best of the Best.!!!! Pam and Alexandria 2 tour reps. Brilliant !!!Negatives - Insufficient staff especially in the Restaurant, most of the waiters work very hard, a couple need their marching orders, especially the man on the coffee at breakfast, a waste of space. but, they are very !!!! understaffed. - Clean towels in rooms sometimes need to go get our self. also toilet rolls. Bar area, not nice at all, needs total re-vamp.All in all, we had a great 2 nd trip. Stunning Scenery and weather was beautiful.

Good value for money

Hotel very nice setting, room, was excellent with splendid views we did however pay extra for an upgrade but was well worth it. TV in room excellent as was free use of safe and fridge. Food was OK but not exceptional however enough choice for the majority of people. The location of the bar is a disappointment as it seems to be in the basement but the terrace area is very nice if you can be bothered to go up and down in the lift with drinks. Staff were all attentive but seemed on occasions to be overworked as the dining room was always full. If anything the dining area was a little cramped and fewer tables would be much better. Lido area was excellent with drinks being available there too for those on all inclusive board, pity about the bathing caps though! All in all though an excellent holiday, good flight times and good value for money. May try a river cruise next time.

This holiday was spoilt by noisy teenagers who were unsurpervised

We did not sleep for the first three nights because of noisy teenagers, sometimes till three o'clock. We were wakened one morning at five o'clock by mistake, thinking we were teenagers to catch a coach. We had to cancel two trips because we were not well enough to embark on the trips booked to Milan and Lake Lugano, because of the disturbances. This holiday came highly recommended but I would not recommend it anyone without further assurances. While most of the staff were cheerful and helpful, I felt the supervision by some members of staff was indifferent and inadequate, displaying lack of control.

Brilliant Holiday & Excursions

Stayed here in May very busy but staff extremely helpful & friendly. We booked all the excursions available which with the exception of one were excellent value for money. The lake cruise & wine tasting being the exception we thought the wine tasting would be on the cruise & really only wanted the cruise but booked anyway. The wine tasting was actually back at the hotel we didn't bother going but the cruise could actually have been purchased at the lake side for a third or even less of the cost. We very much enjoyed the holiday would readily go again with so much to do probably 10 days would be better.

This holiday is fabulous value for money

We have just returned after a lovely holiday here. The hotel was very clean, bedrooms nice, not much soundproofing though, staff very friendly and attentive, food excellent and plenty to choose from. The wine was good too! The trips were also good value for money and well organised. Sally, our Shearings rep very nice and helpful and was there most mornings. Our trip couriers, Pam and Alessendria were great fun and made the tours very enjoyable. So, all in all, a great place to stay with plenty of places to visit and can't wait to return.

Good value for money, the Hotel and food five star.Excursions well organised. If anything the standard room a little small, next time would upgrade to a Lake view.

Ideal holiday for couples relaxing but lots to do & see at your own pace tours if you want.

This was a fantastic holiday the pace was not to rushed. Also had time to do your own thing, see the sights, sit & have a drink,it was so relaxing. Time to visit villages near the hotel via the NODDY train options to hop on & off, lovely church short walk from the hotel, or a 15min walk to look around Charlotta villa & their beautiful gardens.the hotel was lovely, food excerlent staff very friendly rooms nice clean, bar sometimes liveentertainment.Use of a swimming pool 2min walk away. We found this a lovely relaxing holiday on trips very little walking only if you wanted to investgate further. We would recomend this holiday, over all fantastic, one of the best holidays we have had.

Excellent value for money

We were somewhat apprehensive after reading reviews on Tripadvisor regarding the hotel. However, our room was lovely with great views of the mountains. The food was very nice although on one or two occasions in the evening some dishes were substituted but we prefer to eat at a later time and no doubt this wouldn't happen if you went in at the start. There was a good variety of trips to choose from and we found the Shearings rep very helpful. Lake Como is a really beautiful place for a holiday and the hotel is ideally situated for buses and the ferry boats.

24 March 2012

very good value for the money

The hotel is at the side of the lake, with spectacular views. The food was very good and varied something for everyone. The staff where very friendly and helpful. I recommend the trip on the swiss train, the views from the train were out of this world as for the coach drivers they were very good with lots of information on the area. The only down side was the single rooms need updating.

Good all round holiday

Enjoyed it very much, only one complaint, you do the Berninna Pass Train journey on a Wednesday, and as we were flying passengers we missed out, however, the courier arranged for a Taxi to take us to the train, it was a wonderfiul day, except that is did cost us a great deal of money. About 800 Euros for a party of eight.

Great to be back in italy after many years

We really enjoyed this holiday. The Caddenabia area has everything and the trip on the Bernina Express was worth every penny. The opinion on food in the hotel was mixed in our group. Most thought it very good. My opinion was that it was not great. Reasonable and plenty of choice and the lunch time salads were great but not much in the way of deserts and usually stew kind of food. Fish was great though when it was on. Staff were very good and the walking in the area and the public transport was good and fun to use. We would all definitely go again but may try Lake Garda first. We loved the lido across the road.
