Excellent,Highly recommend

We were lucky to have David as our driver who is an excellent tour guide and extremely knowledgeable and informative throughout the whole tour. The hotel Britannia was very comfortable and amazingly quite even though on a main road. We were offered an upgraded room with lake view and balcony which was well worth the extra 40 euros.Food was excellent and a wide variety to suit all tastes. The optional excursion on the Belina railway to St.Moritz and the guided tour of Milan were worth taking.

Great holiday

Have just returned from 9 day holiday to this hotel. Our driver David was excellent and really helped to make the holiday special with his interesting commentary throughout the holiday. The optional excursions were great value for money and the Bernina Express is a must do. The hotel was clean and comfy and the food was good with some choice. Overall this is one of the best value for money holidays I have ever been on. It was our first coach holiday and certainly won't be our last. Well done Shearings

Excellent 'Italian Job '

We have just returned from our first ever continental trip to the resort of Lake Como.We opted for the overnight stay option and it was worth every penny. The hotels at Reims were clean and extremely comfortable &accommodating. Our driver 'David' was a treasure , his knowledge and running commentary was one of the highlights of the whole experience. His talks were interesting and educational. The hotel Britannia was clean and comfortable. The lack of tea & coffee making facilities was a bit of a let down but we did get a mini-fridge which was a bonus. We were offered an up-grade to a lake view room but declined the offer and our rear sited room gave a nice view of the mounts behind. We went on all of the optional and included trips and with the exception of the optional boat trip on the lake we found them good and value for money.DO NOT MISS the St.Moritz train journey and the breathtaking descent by coach , Seems expensive but great value for money. The menu at the hotel was varied . I personally do not like 'warm' food , I prefer it hot so i wasn't able to enjoy the food. In fairness , the friends we journeyed with dined OK and enjoyed the meals. Disappointingly, Italian food only appeared in the form of barely warm pasta with a tomato /carbonnara sauce at each meal.I must admit I expected more. The concert room /bar was excellent and the nighly entertainment fine. The bar staff were efficient , friendly and gave good service.Language is no difficulty at any stage of the holiday. I feel that I must point out that I think that if the hotel were to be 'full' finding a table in the concert room/bar in the evening would be extremely difficult.Overall........a very good experience and one that I would have no hesitation in booking again and recommending to others.

Great holiday in Lake Como

Just returned from really good holiday in Lake Como. Best organised holiday I've ever been on from start to finish. Everything was on time from our feeder coach picking us up to being dropped off 9 days later. The main driver David was great throughout, very informative all the way and an excellent driver. Hotel was fine, food plentiful. Could have done with towels being changed during our stay in Italy and the floor in our room being swept but other than that no complaints. It was our first coach holiday but will not be our last. Excursions were very good and the optional ones value for money. All in all a very good holiday

Good Hotel and food, great excursions and brilliant Driver.

Booking the Holiday was a doddle. Nothing complex. Bought my own insurance as it was cheaper. Paid for front seats which was great (slightly less legroom but you get the best view of the road ahead).Shearing's feeder service is faultless and we got to the Hythe swapover in good time. Sat and relaxed whilst cases swapped.Got on to our Grand Explorer with driver Steve and headed off to Italy with an overnight stop in the newly refurbished Tip Top Hotel in Reims. The Hotel Britannia was good though we would have liked better wifi (limited to a couple of public areas and patchy signal,.We found the food was good with plenty of choice and different evening meals, though the English Breakfast was poor ,but you can have one of those back home anytime,.Entertainment was also poor with a synth/organ playing singer which got monotonous. However, the best entertainment was Steve, the driver. A humourous man with a mountain of knowledge and the best driving I have seen - considerate to other road users, smooth and careful.Steve was always busy, loading/off loading luggage, cleaning the coach, making drinks and sorting out passengers queries. He always greeted you with a smile, usually a litte joke. Basically he made a great holiday unforgettable. The trips on this holiday were fantastic and you really must go on the Bernina Express. This was the highlight, though all of the optional trips are great value.Stopped on the way home at the ,also) newly refurbished Ibis Hotel in Reims. Best Room and best evening meal of the holiday. We would definitely go again and we would recommend it to anyone. I would also rather go via Chunnel and would pay extra to do so as ferries are slow and sea travel doesn't suit us.

Holiday made by our driver.

Having had a previous bad experience with a coach holiday ( Not Shearings) my wife and I decided due to a health issue to give it another try. We were so impressed by our week in Lake Como by everything that was done for us from the pick up to our return home. The hotel although showing signs of wear was clean, we were offered an upgrade that we would advise everyone to take if offered and best of all our driver Steve who made the trip so worthwhile with his skill and knowledge of the area.Additionally the others on board the coach were also very friendly, now looking forward to our next trip with Shearings.

Hotel in great location

We have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel and I think I can say that we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel staff are very friendly and accomodating. Excellent dining facilities and really good food. Brilliant bar. We were on Steve's coach & I must say that he is an excellent driver & really helped to make our holiday. The trip on the Bernina Express is truly amazing and if you don't go on it you will regret it. We did not enjoy Milan as much as it was full of pedlars and beggars who pestered us almost continually while we were there. Go for the room upgrade if you are offered one, it is well worth it. The overnight hotels in Rheims were very comfortable and broke the journey up nicely. All in all, this was a really good holiday and I would not hesitate to return to this hotel

Rooms with lake views excellent, choice of excursions is outstandingly

The hotel is very characterful and very typically Italian with period features, the lakeside position is very good with ample opportunities for lakeside walks. t is also on a bus route to lakeside villages with fares of 2 or 3 euros. English is very widely understood so bono trouble getting around. The included and optional excursions to Milan, Bergamot Lugano and Como are excellent value with knowledgeable guides, the coach drivers are a mine of useful and practical information and hints of what to look for.

Excellent holiday.

A very well organised holiday with a first rate driver who was very thoughtful and efficient. The visit to Milan was not as good as the others but the rest of the trips were excellent especially the Bernina trip.

Great Hotel and beautiful setting

Comfortable room with gorgeous view across the Lake to Bellagio - well worth the lake view supplement.Meals excellent although there is a temptation to eat too much. (Lost count of the varieties of ice cream available for pudding.) Drinks free and tea /coffee available from machines in the large basement bar all day long, Evening entertainment was good if you enjoy solo live music, but was a bit the same every night. Hotel is about 100 yards to ferry terminal - return to Bellagio (well worth a visit) about 7 Euros. Included excursions good and optional extra trips worth every penny - particularly the Benina Express through tha Alps to St Morritz (but take warm clothes - it's 7000 ft above sea level and in March the temperature was minus a lot). Coach ride back is superb if you aren't afraid of heights and snow covered roads winding down the face of the mountains.Excellent holiday. I recommend it to anyone.
