Good for first-time visitors to Italy

This was our first Shearings coach holiday. The coach & driver, Raf, were second to none, and the hotels/meals were very good, although we felt drink prices were high esp in Reims Mercure. The only poor hotel was the Albavilla near Como which was only worth a 2* rating, but ok for 1 night. We felt the optional excursions to Pompeii & the Borromean Islands were poor value as they were both under 2 hrs long & nowhere near long enough. One can easily see Florence, Rome & Pompeii on your own if you do bit of research beforehand & have a map. Montecatini & Spoleto are delightful places to spend a day exploring. The Amalfi drive is recommended, as is the show in Sorrento. The Capri trip is good, but be prepared for extra costs for the chair lift & the round the island boat trip (both optional). On our return journey we arrived at the Mercure on the outskirts of Reims shortly after 3pm, so wasted an afternoon there (we subsequently found a bus stop very near the hotel with regular buses into the city centre which meant we could have gone into the city). We felt the holiday would have better if we had a knowledgeable tour guide on the coach to assist the driver, and if we had time to go to more local cafes/restaurants for lunch off the motorways.

A new adventure and great value for money

We hadn't been on a coach tour before so it was a completely new experience for us. We saw the best parts of Italy with the minimal amount of stress. The hotels were good, the food was great and the places we saw were amazing. We felt like we were on a train, the beautiful scenery just glided by, not our usual hectic experiences of driving abroad. Raf, our coach driver made our holiday even better. As well as being a first class driver, he was an exceptionally thoughtful and genuinely nice guy, always offering good advice, making sure all our needs were catered for. He certainly did above and beyond to make our holiday a really special one. I hope Shearings realise what an asset he is to their business. Only downside to the holiday was the early starts, but they were worth it to get the most out of the sight seeing excursions. Thank you Shearings and Raf for an unforgettable holiday.

Amazing experience, Shearings got nearly everything right

This was our first time on a Shearings coach trip. The experience was just amazing and verynearly perfect. The diversity of the hotels was brilliant and the food in nearly all hotels quite acceptable. We actually enjoyed the the long coach journeys thanks to the driver Raf, who made our holiday. Such fantastic memories we take with us and Raf knows where Shearings might fine tune the holiday. So many highlights I don't want to say anything other than thank you to all concerned.
