Holiday Details

Wednesday: Embark in Cologne
Welcome to the MV Virginia.
Thursday: Cologne to Andernach
Andernach was founded by the Romans in 12BC on an old Celtic settlement. Listen for the local dialect – the ‘Andernacher Platt’ as you explore the medieval remains of town fortifications and castle ruins.
Friday: Andernach to Winningen
We set sail for Winningen, well known for its connection to German wine. Terraced vineyards surround the village and it’s home to the oldest wine festival in Germany.
Saturday: Winningen to Cochem
We head down the Moselle River to Cochem, protected by a feudal castle, the Reichsburg, dating from 1051. This town is full of charm – narrow streets, lovingly restored half-timbered houses, the ancient market place, medieval town gates, and old town walls.
Sunday: Cochem to Koblenz
In Koblenz, the Rhine meets the Moselle and the past meets the present. The medieval centre of Koblenz, based on the Roman layout, is still recognisable. Explore St Castor gothic church, the medieval Moselle bridge, the Jesuit church and college, and the old theatre. Or if you have a head for heights, take the cable car to the Fortress across the river for spectacular views.
Monday: Koblenz to Rüdesheim
Cruising southwards we stop at Rüdesheim, a popular wine-country resort. Wander along the Drosselgasse, a 15th-century cobblestone street lined with wine houses and open-air taverns.
Tuesday: Rüdesheim to Cologne
The MV Virginia returns to Cologne giving you time to reflect on your wonderful journey and enjoy a farewell dinner on board.
Wednesday: Disembark in Cologne
Say a fond farewell to the MV Virginia.
