Must See: Strasbourg
The beautiful city of Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region. The entire town centre has the rare distinction of being listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the richness of its architectural heritage.

Enjoy a stroll around the pretty streets and you will see sights including the Cathedral of Notre Dame, a masterpiece of Gothic art. Visitors can enjoy a stroll along the banks of the River Ill, particularly the ‘Petit France’ quarter, a picturesque district where the streets were built level with the waterways and are lined with magnificent timbered houses.

Strasbourg is also famous as home to the seats of several major political bodies, including the European Parliament.

Holiday Details

Tuesday: UK to Northern France Across to Calais then onwards to our overnight hotel in Northern France for dinner this evening.
Wednesday: Northern France to embark in Cologne We join the MV Virginia in vibrant Cologne, where the cityscape is dominated by the stunning Gothic cathedral, the most famous landmark at the heart of the city.
Thursday: Cologne to Koblenz We begin our leisurely cruise this morning, arriving this afternoon in Koblenz. This welcoming city is filled with cultural monuments and historic buildings, as well as quaint narrow alleyways and river promenades, where you can enjoy a pleasant stroll.
Friday: Koblenz to Rüdesheim Relax on board with the scenery passing us by, before we arrive in Rüdesheim. This enchanting winemaking town forms part of the designated UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rhine Gorge. Take time to sample some of the famous local wines as well as enjoying a stroll through the picturesque Old Town.
Saturday: Rudesheim to Speyer A day of cruising ahead until we moor in Speyer later this afternoon. Worth seeing in the town is the 11th century Imperial Cathedral, which is one of Germany’s largest and most important, and its crypt contains the tombs of eight German emperors and kings.
Sunday: Speyer - Rastatt - Strasbourg After a morning sailing, we call at the town of Rastatt around lunch time, with the chance to join our afternoon optional trip or continuing with our ship to Strasbourg.
Monday: Strasbourg This beautiful city, set just over the border into France, is designated a World Heritage Site and is truly a delight to explore, from beautiful buildings to scenic waterway strolls.
Tuesday: Strasbourg - Mannheim - Mainz Leaving Strasbourg early morning we enjoy the sights as we cruise to Mannheim, continuing on to our last port of call in Mainz.
Wednesday: Mainz It is time to bid farewell in Mainz to the MV Virginia. We travel to Northern France for an overnight stay.
Thursday: Northern France to UKWe travel on to Calais for our ferry to Dover and continue home.
For departures on these dates, the itinerary will operate in reverse order: Jun 11th, Jul 16th, July 30th.
