Must See: Loreley and Rhine Gorge

The Rhine Gorge is a place of amazing beauty, history and legend. This 65 kilometre stretch of the Rhine River between Koblenz and Bingen received the accolade of becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2003. One of the must see points of the gorge is the famous Loreley Rock near the town of St. Goarshausen. This impressive rock is 450 feet high and signifies the narrowest and deepest point of the Rhine and as folklore would have it an enchanting female associated with the rock used to sit combing her golden hair, unwittingly distracting shipmen with her beauty and song, causing them to crash on the rocks.

4 March 2013

A very enjoyable trip with lovely scenery.

I went on the Rhein / Mosel trip and had a lovely time. The boat was very comfortable, although our cabin was rather small, and I enjoyed the food. My daughter came with me and we made some good friends. We saw lots of old castles, pretty towns and tasted some good wines. The crew were very helpful and friendly. I certainly would like to go again.
