This wonderful river cruise takes us down the River Garonne, around the Gironde Estuary and into the River Dordogne. Along the way you'll enjoy some splendid scenery, taking in medieval cities, charming gardens and majestic buildings of great historical importance. The highlight of your cruise is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bordeaux, home to some truly stunning architecture. Of course, there's chance for you to sample some wonderful wines along the way.

Holiday Details

Day 1 Bordeaux
Embark the MS Princess d’Aquitaine. Enjoy a welcome drink in the lounge and be introduced to your on-board crew. Dinner will be followed by an evening of entertainment.
Day 2 Bordeaux – Pauillac
We cruise this morning and head down the River Garonne and then join the River Gironde, passing Cazeau Island and Patiras Island before arriving at Pauillac in time for lunch on board. After lunch, why not join our optional excursion to visit Médoc, a renowned region where the most famous red wines in the world are cultivated (reservation in advance is essential). You will also get glimpses of the châteaux of Lafite-Rothschild Latour and Mouton Rothschild. Return on board for dinner and an evening of entertainment provided by the crew.
Day 3 Pauillac – Blaye - Libourne
We sail early this morning to Blaye. In days gone by, this superb acropolis was an ideal look-out post to watch for invaders. There was a citadel and fortress built here by Vauban which is without doubt one of the biggest attractions in Blaye. This morning you have an opportunity to join our optional excursion along the Corniche, or cliff route. After lunch we cruise towards Cadillac, past the island of Cazeau and join the River Dordogne in the direction of Libourne. This evening there will be a gala dinner followed by an evening of dancing.
Day 4 Libourne Saint-Émilion - Bordeaux
After breakfast there is an optional excursion to Saint-Émilion where you will learn about the history of the medieval city and visit a family-run vineyard. After lunch we continue the cruise and return to Bordeaux. After dinner why not join the optional guided tour of Bordeaux by night. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bordeaux is a fantastic place to visit.
Day 5 Bordeaux
After breakfast on board, we disembark.
Join by Air
Day 1 UK to Bordeaux
Fly to Bordeaux. Transfer to the ship, ready to embark on your cruise.
Day 5 Bordeaux to UK
Transfer to the airport for the flight back to the UK.
Join by Rail
Day 1 London St Pancras to Bordeaux
Take the Eurostar to Lille, then on by TGV to Bordeaux to join the cruise.
Day 5 Bordeaux to London St Pancras
Join the TGV rail service to Lille then on to Eurostar to London.
