Combine a break in Zeebrugge with the chance to explore the medieval city of Bruges and a visit to historic Flanders, where opposing troops fought along a series of trenches during World War I. Visit the In Flanders’ Fields Museum to gain an insight into the ‘War to End All Wars’.
This Battlefields tour will provide us with insight into the lives of the brave soldiers who fought for king and country, and who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our safety. We’ll begin with a tour of Flanders’ most famous Battlefields, visiting the Passchendaele Memorial Museum, Essex Farm Cemetery and the German Cemetery at Langemarck.
We’ll then make our way to Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth War Grave Commission military cemetery in Europe. This is where John McCrae wrote the famous poem ‘In Flanders’ Fields’ following the death of his friend and comrade. Our excursion will continue with a trip to the In Flanders’ Fields Museum, before we observe the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in the evening.
