excellent value for money.

This was our 14th holiday with Shearings and again brillant holiday. Yes the hotel could do with a lick of paint but the bathroom and beds are very c lean and the food very good.Best entertainment we have seen at a Bay Hotel. We did have trouble with the hot water beteen 5 and 6pm.Staff very friendly. Service in the resturant 1st class.Would return to this hotel.

Great value for money

The journey each way wasn't as easy as we expected, one way we changed coach twice and the return journey once. We were put onto another coach which diverted our journey adding on one hour to our already long journey. It would of been helpful had the driver kept us informed what was happening. The hotel was clean and friendly and the food was better than expected especially considering the low cost. Overall I can give the holiday full marks for value for money. We will certainly be looking for another break with you.Thank you.

decent hotel pity about the heating

This would have been an excellent holiday if the heating in the dining room and concert room would have been working for the week mon jan14th until fri 18th jan 2013.the excuse given by the hotel was that it was awaiting a new part for the system but they should have hired some portable calor gas heaters which is not very hard to do in this day and age.The hotel is full this week end as it is the pigeon weekend good luck to them all.We were on 1 of 2 shearings coaches staying there our coach driver Dave got complaints from all the 48 passengers on our coach which he put into his report

Good value, super service.

We went to Blackpool at the end of February and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had stayed at Libertys before a few years ago. Lots of money has recently been spent on the resort of Blackpool (new street furniture, comedy carpet etc - they are even replacing the old trams with new ones which I think is a mistake as the old ones are a tourist attraction). The Tower is well worth a visit (you can sit in the gallery and watch the dancers in the ballroom or on the terrace and enjoy the views free of charge). The hotel itself is a rather old building and yes it does have creaky floors but we didn't find this a problem. The staff are very helpful and the service in the dining room is very good.I must agree with earlier reviewers that too long is spent at the Oswaldtwistle Mills and not enough time at Southport which is a lovely town. [We had Willie as our coach driver and he was excellent but sadly he retired last month.]The cabaret has changed since our last visit when there was a resident comic/singer in residence but the visiting cabaret acts were very good indeed.Having watched a group of people 'take advantage' of the 'all inclusive' drinks on an earlier holiday at Torquay I was not surprised that this had been replaced with a system of vouchers - these were certainly sufficient to cover our drinks for the evening especially as we had already had a free glass of wine with the evening meal. These all inclusive short breaks are certainly very good value for money and Blackpool is an interesting and enjoyable place to visit. We will be back again I'm sure. Any deficiencies in the hotel are more than made up for by the helpfulness of the staff.

Drop Oswaldtwistle

We went in March and were lucky with the weather as there was no rain. Blackpool was very quiet at that time of year. All the staff at Bay Liberty are excellent and the entertainment was better than we expected. The food was okay, nothing memorable, but for the price we were satisfied. The only thing we did not enjoy about the holiday was Oswaldtwistle, a complete waste of a day. Four hours was a ridiculous amount of time to spend wandering around that tired collection of shops. The drive to and from was devoid of interest as well. We couldn't believe we were dumped there for four hours and then given only two hours at Southport on another day. Shearings, this needs to be changed! On our free day we took the train from Blackpool to Manchester and visited the art gallery, cathedral, and Arndale shopping centre.

Valu for money

2nd time staying at Libertys. Had nice room, the meals were good and the staff very pleasant. Any problems that we had were sorted straight away. Our coach driver Peter very pleasant and we enjoyed our trips out. 2 hours max at Oswaltwistle is plenty long enough, prefer to have more time visiting Southport.

holiday good value

we were a party of 4 mums as it was mothers day weekend we booked the weekend the hotel ticked all the boxes for friday and saturdaywith entertainment however we felt the sunday was a bit of a letdown as there was no entertainment in the hotel. We would have preferred to have just had the two nights as sunday was a bit of an empty day for us.Iwould like to add one of our party had a fall and had to visit the local a&e the hotel staff were first class in their concern and attention for which we thank them very much

Time to explore, reflect & enjoy (go beyond the pleasure beach)

1) Pick Up from Local Bus Stop - fantastic2) Waiting time in Gateway of 1 1/2 hrs was acceptable; there was a nice selection of refreshments options3) Welcome Break of 45mins on toll road was fine, would be better if it was only 30mins4) Hotel: Fantastic service in the restaurant & helpful receptionists5) Entertainment: varied & entertaining, each evening was composed of a quiz, bit of banter, some bingo and some fantastic acts6) Room: 3rd floor is very creaky, however since the majority were of an older generation it was generally quiet after 11pm. The room was a bit dated but clean7) 3 hours in Oswaldtwistle mills, coming from a large city I felt that I could easily have missed this, I did expect more local produce & arts & crafts, but the deli & café were nice. I would have enjoyed going round the village8) I would recommend on Tuesday that you- Catch the tram to Fleetwood Market (it is closed on the Wednesday)- Have a cup of Earl Gray at Pablo’s- Catch the tram back to Clevelys for Lunch (or have it at Pablo’s)- If you are energetic I would then walk along the sea wall back to Blackpool.- It is all on the same level, but there are steep steps to the toilets (bring 20p)9) Wednesday (FREE day) I would recommend- Blackpool Tower Eye experience (£12.60)- Sitting down on the Sea View Terrace and watch the people walk by & on the comedy carpet (FREE)- Sit in the Ballroom balconies and watch the dancers (FREE)- Enjoy the OTT decor & history- If you have any talent I would recommend that you take to the floor and dance the day away (£9.00)- Catch the number 4 or 20 bus to Whitegate Drive & a short walk to Stanley Park- Lunch & Ice-cream at the Art Deco café in the park- Enjoy the Italian gardens and lake- Blackpool Model Village (£6.95)10) Thursday - Day trip to Southport – a charming Victorian seaside villageDrawbacks:- A coach driver who got us lost on the way to OT & SP- Communication between the driver & receptionists & holidaymakers on the last day, if we had known that there was going to be a delay in picking up the luggage & therefore departing I would not have rushed breakfast- I was fortunate to be placed near some wonderful conversationalists for my meals; however, the single table near the entrance was not the best placed to encourage mingling otherwiseSummary:As a first timer in their mid 30’s and a singleton to boot I had a wonderful time and met some lovely people, I love going off on my own & meeting up with people at the end of the day and sharing stories - the best of both worlds.

If you havn't visited Blackpool before it is certainly worth a visit.

All the Hotel staff were very efficient and helpful in every way. I would say that the meals served were usually nearly cold (other than the soup) and some were over cooked (i.e. fish and chips kept hot) and was therefore very hard to get the batter off.The hotel lift only carries 4 people and every time I got in it I thought it was going to break down. When you get to your particular floor there are still stairs to get to your room. The coach driver, Darren, was an excellent driver and courier which made the holiday very pleasant. The day trips were also very interesting. If the hotel had a better chef the whole holiday would have been even better.

The holiday was value for money

The hotel and the town were great but the holiday was let down by the time it took to travel via the pickup points to blackpool (11 hours), It would have taken us 4 hours by car.

Great value for money

First time visiting Blackpool and had a really good time. Would definitely go again. The hotel was ok, and the meals were good, even though some nights the menu was not up to much. With the excursions, too much time was spent at the Oswaldtwistle Mills. There is only so much you can see and we spent the majority of the time hanging round for the bus back. Also on the way to and from Blackpool, we had to stop for 45 minutes which was a bit disappointing as we had to hang around.Overall the holiday was great value for money and would recommend to others.

this break was just nice to get away from things

i was glad to have a break in january and great that it was in blackpool what with a great hotel with excellent facilities and situated in a great position on the sea front right by the north pier and within easy walk of the town centre and the two excursions also added extra value to the break , i would certainly go back to that hotel again what with the great entertainment.

Great "Post Christmas Break"

We have stayed at Liberty's three times now - it's great just after Christmas when things fall a bit "flat" The hotel is warm & welcoming. Food excellent and the friendly staff always ready to help.Blackpool can be bleak early January but the excursions are interesting and drivers always very knowledgeable about the local area.Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this short break, in fact we have never been disappointed with any of the Shearings Holidays we have taken.Changes in these short breaks have however meant that we may have to curtail the frequency of our bookings : for instance all inclusive used to mean exactly that - you didn't have to pay for drinks - now you are limited and issued with vouchers, We never abused the "all inclusive" system but now you are meant to feel as if you have!!!Also - each time we book the car parking tariff at the Stretton Interchange increases , We only bring our own car to save the hanging about for "feeder coaches" in a seriously overcrowded waiting room. Hope that this feedback is useful
