A Great Holiday!

Read the other reviews before booking, and they were all accurate. Room’s clean and comfortable, staff polite and courteous. The waitress we had was new, but still quick and efficient. The food was excellent and always hot. We had some lovely trips out, all with the safe and extremely knowledgeable Chris who gave us a recipe for pasties! We can see why some of the other guests have been several times! Really glad we paid the extra for a seaview, it was well worth it.

Halfway to Heaven

We have use Shearings for many holidays but this was so different, we booked for a North East special, but drove ourselves which meant we had 8 days as the coaches did not arrive until 5:30pm. The staff were so obliging in all departments, the food was as expected and this time we took advantage of the free and oligarchy trips as the hedges in Cornwall are high and not much vision for car drivers. We met some very interesting people who had achieved so much in life.

Lovely Location - Breath of Fresh Air!

The careful driver stopped for several breaks, so it was just after 7:30pm when the coach arrived at St Ives Bay, an unpretentious, informal hotel, with gorgeous views from the front windows. We had two optional trips to Falmouth (half day) and to Land's End (£7.50p extra). St Ives had lots of small galleries and craft shops. Tate St Ives, Hepworth's Garden and The Rock were each worth the hilly walk, a chance to absorb unique views in an unspoilt setting. Recommended, if mobile and no major health issues.

Lovely Holiday Fantastic Value for Money

We had a wonderful view over Porthminster beach. The room was larger than we expected, clean, warm, comfortable, en-suite with bath/shower. All the hotel staff were friendly and courteous. Our waitress, Ning, was very efficient and helpful nothing was too much trouble for her. Three coaches arrived at the same time and the hotel management and staff dealt with the situation very efficiently. Pat our driver was brilliant, he had a great sense of humour. Well worth the money we'll be book again.

Inviting Hotel

We have just returned from an excellent 3 day break over the new year. Hotel warm and inviting as were all the staff. The entertainment programme was of a professional standard with different turns each night. Room most spacious and clean even though we were at the back. The shower room needed a little updating but that sort of thing does not bother us too much. Our only gripe (and there is always one.) The cheese served on New Year’s Eve was described as Blue Stilton. We doubted that it was.

PARADISE

St Ives is a beautiful place, the hotel is local to all amenities, staff very helpful and friendly, evening entertainment basic but good, and the best was the free drinks at the bar in the evening. Would highly recommend this place, except very steep hills to climb, not good if your mobility is limited, but excellent place to visit.
