The Imperial Hotel is an elegant, spacious hotel overlooking the sea, set in magnificent gardens. It is a perfect base for leisure travellers wishing to explore the beauty of Devon, within easy reach of Torquay and Exeter.

Exmouth is famous for its magnificent sandy beach and coastal paths, providing countless opportunities for lovers of the outdoors. Just 10 miles west of the town, you’ll find the solitude and beauty of Dartmoor National Park.

The hotel houses all of the amenities and facilities you would expect from a Coast and Country venue. In addition, our staff will offer you a warm, friendly welcome, and ensure that your stay is as relaxing and memorable as possible.

This hotel only has a limited amount of parking spaces, these can be reserved at £5.00 per day. Some on road parking is sometimes available around the hotel but charges may apply.

Often our most luxurious room option. Most premier rooms have four-poster beds and spacious en suite bathrooms that have been beautifully re-fitted to accommodate both bath and shower options. These large rooms will normally offer a comfortable seating area, 32 inch flat screen digital television, hairdryer and the facilities to make a hot beverage.

Anniversary Break

This was our first stay at a Shearings Hotel and was to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. When we arrived we found the room to be very cold and the bathroom even colder. We asked for a fan heater for the bathroom and blankets for the beds. However the food was very good and the waiting staff attentive. We were disappointed that the anniversary cards posted to the Hotel were "returned to sender" and it was another week before we received them. Would it have been so difficult to check the records?

Lovely Break

Booked a 5 day coach break at the Grand, Exmouth, but it was closed so we were moved to the Imperial. Found it to be a lovely hotel and the food was excellent. Not a bit like reports we had read previously. It was well presented and very hot plates and the choice was good. We didn't find anything we didn't like on the menu. Room was good (116) but bathroom needs a bit of attention. Rust spot in the bath. Heated rail did not work and shower wouldn't shut off properly. But a most enjoyable break.

Excellent Hotel

This was our first visit to The Imperial Hotel, Exmouth. A lovely hotel in a beautiful location. A very comfortable, relaxing, clean, warm, hotel. From the receptionist to the lady who cleaned our room nothing was too much trouble. We love the relaxed atmosphere of a Coast and Country hotel. (This is our 3rd). An excellent holiday and hotel.

Comfortable and relaxing

We booked a standard room for our weekend break at the Imperial and we found it to be refurbished to a high standard warm and comfortable. There was plenty of storage space and our room on the second floor was lovely and bright it faced the car park at the back but this was not an unpleasant view. The food was excellent staff very attentive and polite nothing was too much trouble. The ambience of the hotel was very relaxing and the decor lovely. We had a wonderful break and can't wait to return.

2nd visit

This is the second time we have visited The Imperial, having stayed for 4 nights in April 2011. It's a lovely Hotel in a prime position, very handy for the beach & the town. The staff are very nice, especially in the dining room. We upgraded the room this year, and ended up with the one next door to the one we had last year! I'm not sure it was worth the extra money, except of course for the balcony. The only negative we can find really is, we didn't feel the food was quite as good as last year

Elegant Georgian hotel

A lovely old hotel in a prime position 2 mins to sea front and 5 mins to town centre. Very warm rooms, our bedroom was a little tired, ready for a makeover. Public rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. Dining room is beautiful with excellent food, good service most of the time. Staff were polite and helpful. Only quibble was the rather poor entertainment, only on for two nights. Overall an excellent hotel.

So nice to meet you all

That goes to the staff and all the other holiday makers staying at the very well presented, prime positioned hotel. The food was excellent, a choice for everyone served with a smile. Our room was first class (we did take the superior option) well worth the extra, a nice view of the sea, and a balcony with a table and chairs to sit and watch the world go by. We will be returning. Go on make the booking, you won’t regret it.

Best Yet!

This was our 4th Coast and Country Hotel visit and from almost every aspect it was the BEST YET! Food, accommodation, service all excellent. If we were being hypocritical maybe the entertainment could have been a little better. We are definitely hooked on the Coast and Country formula. I have been critical of Shearings at times in the past but not so with the Imperial - well done.

Nice and Clean

Great setting for a hotel as the front is at the bottom of the garden. The staff were very kind and helpful and the dining room was the best we have eaten in it took my breath away. The serving staff worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very nice no need for a makeover yet and we felt at home nice and cosy. We will return when the sun shines as there are many resorts that we found. Glynn.

Short Break

Just spent a lovely 3 night break at the imperial hotel with my mother, hotel was clean and cosy. It was positioned right on the sea front so we enjoyed many strolls along the promenade, well positioned for exploring the area. food was very well cooked and presented. we had a lovely stay!!!!!!
