Dilkhusa in Ilfracombe. Really enjoyed our 1st trip with Shearings
Our 1st time on a Shearing break and really enjoyed it. Amazed they were so well organised. Arriving at the hotel with bit of an aching backside we were greeted with our keys, drinks card etc. then shown the way to our room (219) dissaponted the room was very small and the en suite was very lacking, there were no shelves to put anything on. I think the name Dilkhusa is latin for Dilk = "squeeky" and husa = "house", because every floorboard in the hotel squeeked. The bed was comfy and the room clean but dated and tea/coffee making facilities appreciated. During our stay we found the food very good and waitress Lisa did a great job (good luck with the baby). Our excursion was with a very talented driver Nigel who seemed to know just about everything about the area. Some of the entertainment was good but we didn't go to play bingo. The drinks vouchers were just about enough for us. I'd recommend this trip and we were both delighted with our overall experience, what a bargain. We were straight back on the shearing site looking for our next one. Fact- Shearing have 265 coaches (including their sister company National Holidays) so no wonder we now spot them everywhere. PS. No WiFi at this hotel so don't take your laptop. PPS. A cup of tea around town ranges from £1.50 to £2.00 per cup, shame on you Ilfacombe. The star rating given on this holiday was based on what we paid for it.
