An excellent holiday

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed this holiday which was very good value for money. Excellent hotels, interesting local guides and drivers (Mick & Trevor) who were friendly and very helpful and informative. Particularly recommended ( as optional extras) are the evening concert at the Kursalon in Vienna and the Rhine cruise. The local Grune Veltliner wine is not to be missed - like drinking silk.

9 December 2012

First week in September 2012, excellent weather.

This holiday is ideal for those who want culture and scenery, and just want to sit back and relax with someone else planning the itinerary. Our drivers were friendly, jovial and first class in every way but the whole experience was let down by The Delta Hotel in Vienna where the evening meals were disgusting. Breakfasts however were excellent. All the other hotels were very good.We would recommend this holiday for totally mobile people as a lot of walking is involved. But be prepared to eat out if staying at The Delta Hotel in Vienna.

19 October 2012

A good introduction to Eastern Europe

Long distances but necwssary to see these cities. Budapest is a must. The Delta Hotel in Vienna was a disaster. Inches away from a very large building site operating long hours. Brought in cold inedible food. Four stars, more like four wooden spoons. If Shearings would change this Hotel, then I would recommend this holiday.

11 October 2012

Very long hours travelling but worth it to see 3 fantastic cities.

If travelling from South West (Plymouth), expect to sit on the coach from 5am until 10 pm on the first day. The rest of the days weren't so bad, but lots of early starts (5.45 wake up call the earliest) and lots of sitting on motorways. Expect lots of roadworks in Germany and Austria too!The hotels were all fine - Jury's Inn in Prague the best and the Delta in Vienna the worst. They are currently overlooking a building site and they start work at 6am! Not too bad as we had to be up early most days anyway. The food was mostly ok (we asked for veggie which was a bit of a problem for some of the hotels) but as to be expected for a party, there was no choice and set menus and times. The only time we had a choice was the last night at the Lille Hotel, France. The drivers were okay, but not overly helpful, although they did keep us informed over the 8 days. They tell you about the excursions (and extra ones you have to pay for) on the Sunday and a lot of our party couldn't hear properly and got confused by all the things you have to write down.We didn't go on most of the paying excursions and some people who did go, said the Brno trip was a waste of time and money. Enjoyed the Rhine river trip which was on the last Saturday (cost approx 17 Euros when we went). Spent the two days in Prague and Vienna on our own and got around on the underground/metro systems. They were really easy to use and a day ticket cost about £3.50 and £6 respectively. You don't need hardly any forints for the Budapest day as you are only there a few hours - just take about £20 worth for lunch. So an enjoyable, but tiring holiday and a 'taster' of 3 European cities. Enough to see if you want to go back for longer (we want to revisit Prague).

A Long Haul

Long spells on coach, stay clear of night trips in vienna and prague as they take you around the city again next morning, so you will see everything again, a waste of money. You can see these yourself on foot.Franz Joesph hotel in vienna is way out of the city and center is only reached by trams.Dont fall for trip to bruno, there is nothing there and a waste of time, when we could have arrived earlier to our hotel.

be prepared for long periods of time on the coach

date of holiday 4th August 2012.The cities we visited were interesting but not enough time was allowed, we all felt we were rushing around all of the time. This holiday was originally 12 days now it is 9 and there is too much to cover in 9 days. We spent a good deal of the time on the coach. The day we went to Budapest we were on the coach at 7.30a.m. getting to Budapest at 11.00a.m. We then had a tour of the city with a guide until 2.00p.m. and back on the coach at 3.30p.m. getting back to Vienna at 7.00p.m. The next day we left Vienna at 8.00a.m. and spent 10 hours on motorways to get to Frankfurt. Two long and tiring days. The two drivers we had I am sorry to say were terrible. They both looked bored and tired with the job and gave us no information at all while we travelled. In fact the day we travelled to Frankfurt (10 hours on the coach on the motorway neither of them spoke)There were 38 people on our holiday and all were of the same opinion that we were rushing around all of the time, there was not enough time spent in the cities, the food at the Delta was appalling and to cover the distances involved 9 days is not enough. This holidays is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties although we spent a good deal of time on the coach when we did get off the distances to walk were to far for some people. The hotels were o.k. but the food in the Delta in Vienna waspoor. This hotel does not do evening meals and the food is brought in and warmed up. It was so bad that one evening the main meal was not eaten and we all went out to find a meal. The breakfasts at all the hotels were good, but the evening meals served to Shearings customers is very poor.

11 August 2012

money well spent

this was a great holiday, the traveling was organised well between each place and the coach was comfortable, the hotels were good.prague vienna and budapest were wonderful to see, with lovely monuments palaces and culture, budapest was my favourite, the guides were excellent with details and our drivers were very clear about our trips and travel.i will be booking with shearings again,

6 July 2012

Holiday was excellent value for the money.

What a great holiday this was we were on the coach for long periods at a time but even that was enjoyable,we visited lovely places like Vienna,Prague and Budapest (what a beautiful place to visit ) overall a great holiday and would do it again as we must have missed a lot as there is so much to see and take in all at once, hotels were nice and the drivers good.

20 June 2012

Great holiday

We enjoyed our holiday very much. The hotels were all very clean and comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the coach, but that was necessary to be able to visit all three cities in such a short length of time. Some mornings we had early starts, again because of the distances involved. The breakfasts were all very good with plenty of choice. Evening meals were all set menus. All the trips ( included and optional) were very good and gave us lots of background information. Overall I think that this holiday was very good value.

22 April 2012

Great to visit all three cities

The trip was wonderful. A long time on the coach but it is over 2000 miles there and back again! All 3 cities were beautiful (Budapest my favorite). Both drivers were very good and helped out with all our 'hic-cups' very professionally. The hotels and their staff were excellant. Breakfasts on all 8 days were wonderful with loads of choice but the evenings meals were a very plain.

17 April 2012

good holiday

Very good informative holiday. The only down side was the meals in the Delta in Vienna, Set meals, no choice.Lovley scenery on all trips. The rhine trip was a bonus we didn't know about.Would go again.

31 March 2012

Excellent holiday with very informative guides in all cities.

We had a great holiday with good hotels and excellent guides to show us around the cities. We visited the Vienna Opera House to be recommended. Would recommend this as a good way to visit all three cities.

The holiday was wonderful to see the cities and make you want to go back

We absolutely loved the places we saw, Every trip and city was beautiful, the service excellent, It makes you want to go back, especially Budapest. The only downside was the length of travelling. Needs must to get to all these places but there are a couple of days where you seem to be on the coach all day, but plenty of rest stops and you see some gorgeous places en route.

Still need help?
